New Mercedes-Maybach concept teased ahead of Pebble Beach reveal

Mercedes releases a video of its new concept car expected to be a convertible version of the Mercedes-Maybach 6

Ahead of one of the most prestigious events in the automotive calendar, Mercedes-Benz has leaked a video of a new concept car set to take centre stage at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. The thirty second clip, with up close interior and exterior shots, teases the luxurious concept.

The new video comes shortly after the marque’s Chief Designer, Gorden Wagener, uploaded footage to Instagram of a design meeting that showed sketches of the car in question.

While details of the project are scarce, the video hints at the design philosophy that has shaped its profile. The endless bonnet apes the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 concept, Mercedes’s showpiece for the Concours event last year – multi-spoke alloys are forged in a classic Mercedes-Benz style, and are certainly more reserved -finished in silver- rather than the gaudy 24-inch cherry examples of the Vision 6 concept. Rumours suggest that we could be looking at the convertible version of this car.

A quick glimpse of the cabin suggests they’ll only be room for two despite its elongated proportions. The duo of dials resting behind the two spoke steering wheel look to have been carried across from the Vision 6 as well. No doubt, occupants will be soothed by a cabin lavished in luxury and high-tech gadgetry.

The Vision 6 concept certainly stoked conversation amongst visitors at the event last year. The striking coupe stood as both as an homage to the past and trailblazer for the future. There’s no word on what will propel the upcoming vision concept, but electric power could be on the cards after appearing in the Vision 6 coupe.
