Porsche at Paris Motor Show 2008

German sports car maker shows off pair of special editions

Porsche has a full stand at this year’s Paris Motor Show. As well as showing off multiple variations of the updated 997, including the new Targa, there are two limited editions nearer the bottom of the Porsche range.

First up, the Cayman S Sport. As the name suggests, it's an uprated Cayman S, with the 3.4-litre engine getting an 8bhp hike up to 303bhp and gaining styling that echoes the 911 GT3 RS, right down to orange or green paintwork coming as standard. The six-cylinder boxer engine is joined by Porsche Active Suspension Management as standard-fit, while suspension is lowered by 10mm and there’s a sports exhaust at the back. Inside, there’s a GT3-style steering wheel and Porsche’s Sports Chrono Package.

There’ll be 700 produced, with a price tag of £49,890. If you don't fancy a flueresent marker-inspired hue for the bodywork, other colours can be picked at extra cost.

There’s also the Boxster S Porsche Design Edition 2 (catchy name), which enjoys the same power boost as the Cayman S – meaning there’s 303bhp on tap – and a special Carrera White makeover, with the colour dribbled throughout the car and its interior, with grey stripes and all-red tail lights completing the look to make the Design Edition 2 stand out from the rest of its Boxster siblings. Just 500 will be made, with sales limited to Germany, the US and Canada for now.
