Renault Twingo: Twingo Renaultsport

Renault has just made the hot hatch more accessible

Renault has just announced the Twingo Renaultsport, an affordable sporty hatch.

Known as the Twingo RS, the 1598cc engine produces 133bhp. Rev ceiling's not been revealed but the tacho redlines at 7,000rpm. The car's shod with 17-inch dark metallic grey wheels (with matching rear spoiler), fitted with195/40 x 17-inch Conti Sport rubberware.

Nothing too elaborate inside. No bucket seats, but tasteful orange stitchwork lifts the interior from 'ordinary' models.

Tight-lipped officials are giving little away but the target price is said to be in Suzuki Swift Sport territory, so expect to cough up around the 12K mark.

It'll be built on the same line as the Twingo. More details to follow.
