Smart Fortwo Brabus review - Small car, big fun, huge price - MPG and running costs
Far more capable and fun than we could have expected, but it's hard to ignore that price tag
MPG and running costs
Weaving around its natural urban domain the Brabus returns 54.3mpg, aided by stop-start technology, rising to 62.8mpg on a combined cycle. Emitting 102g/km of CO2 casts the performance Smart in isolation from the rest of the range, which are £20 cheaper to tax in year one before the blanket annual VED rate kicks in.
Unless you’re a young or newly qualified driver, the low insurance group of 11 is unlikely to have you trawling comparison sites to find a reasonable deal. Service costs are as reasonable as can be expected and a three year unlimited mileage warranty is standard.
