Audi A5 review - sharply-styled coupe is a big upgrade from old model - Page 7: Design

Correctly specced, the A5 is a decent package for keen drivers and a genuine rival to the BMW 4-series

Evo rating
RRP
from £30,700
  • Looks, interior, decent everyday usability
  • Requires active chassis to make the most of ride and handling

Design

Unmistakably Audi, the A5’s design is very similar to the outgoing model. That’s no bad thing, as it retains a stylish, sleek silhouette, but owners of the previous-generation model may have been hoping for more of an upgrade.

The A5’s ‘face’ is more chiselled than before, and the sharp-edged Audi grille sits well on the front, flanked by aggressive-looking headlights and foglight surrounds. Sharp-edged lines running down the flanks of the car make it look wide and low – helped by the long wheelbase and low, sloping roofline.
