Ford Escort RS1800 rally car Goodwood Festival of Speed

The 2013 Goodwood Festival of Speed takes place from July 12 to 14. Its Spring launch day typically features a multitude of uber-powerful supercars and iconic racers indulging in a short blast up the famous Goodwood hill, but evo features editor Henry Catchpole had designs on a squirm around the rally course.

Here he meets Geoff Jones and a mk2 Ford Escort RS1800 rally car just like the one he daydreams about most days, with a 265bhp twin-cam BDA engine and rear-wheel drive ensuring it’s enormous fun on mud and gravel.
