  • Striking looks, efficient drivetrain and plentiful equipment
  • Efficiency drive hampers the fun factor, E-CVT transmission droning

Prices, Specs and Rivals

With a starting price of £26,495 for the IS 250 SE the IS range is priced around £500 less than its equivalent C-Class, Audi A4 and BMW 320i rivals. That’s also the case when you compare the IS 300h to its diesel rivals, the IS 300h SE undercutting the BMW 320d EfficientDynamics by the same amount.

The IS 250 is offered in SE, Luxury, F Sport and Premier trims, the IS 300h adding Executive Edition and Advance to that. All come with alloy wheels (though just 16-inch items on the SE), cruise control, DAB audio, dual-zone climate control, keyless entry and high intensity Xenon headlights. Anything above SE gets front and rear parking sensors, while navigation needs to be optioned on all but the Executive Edition and Advance models, while the Premier model comes with Lexus’ Premium Navigation. Those Premier versions get the 15-speaker Mark Levinson audio system as standard, a £1000 option on all other models.
