Peugeot's 3008 will be the company's long-overdue answer to the Renault Scenic, Picasso and Touran

Snapped here undergoing secret cold-weather testing in the middle of nowhere, the Peugeot 3008 will be the company's long-overdue answer to the Renault Scenic, Citroen Picasso and Volkswagen Touran, but will feature a number of novel design and packaging ideas to set it apart. As the name suggests, the 307's replacement, the 308, will provide the necessary frame for this compact multi-seater Peugeot to operate within. The Peugeot 3008 MPV with sliding doors is planned with full seven-seater functionality and a higher roof.

Safety will include tyre pressure sensors, audible passenger seatbelt warnings and a hands free Bluetooth wireless phone kit should all be available on top-spec models. Dual zone climate control and new entertainment equipment packages should be introduced.

New-generation petrol and HDI engines ranging up to 2.4 litres are believed to be in development for the 3008 family.
