2019 Volvo V60 review - is the new V60 estate the best of its kind? - MPG and running costs

Volvo’s latest V60 is a brilliant estate car, but rather less entertaining to drive than it could be

  • Superb comfort, intelligence, capability. Great to look at, and sit in too
  • Not sporty, and if you’re not into four-pots it might be a problem

Many will buy the V60 on a company car scheme, so the low CO2 emissions of the diesels will likely appeal. MPG figures for both diesel models sit as high as 62.8mpg on the combined figure, and as mentioned above are barely affected by the choice of transmission. CO2 emissions also dip below 120g/km, usefully putting them into a low tax bracket.

Petrol models unfortunately have a huge drop in MPG, with the T4 and T5 managing 37.9mpg and 32.9mpg respectively. T8 models have yet to be homologated for the UK cycle, but expect a big MPG number thanks to the plug-in element of the powertrain, which is impossible to match unless you drive for a majority of the time in EV mode.
