  • Superb comfort, intelligence, capability. Great to look at, and sit in too
  • Not sporty, and if you’re not into four-pots it might be a problem

Starting at the entry point, the D3 makes 148bhp and 236lb ft of torque, allowing it to sneak under the ten-second 0-62mph barrier by just three-tenths, regardless of whether you’ve opted for the six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmission. The D4 is also available with both manual and auto ’boxes, and its 187bhp and 295lb ft outputs allow it to reach 62mph in 7.9sec from rest.

All petrol models come with an automatic transmission as standard, with both T4 and T5 models quicker than the diesels. The T4 reaches 62mph in 7.3sec, the T5 reaching the same mark in 6.9sec. As you might expect, the T8 takes a fair old chunk off the 0-62mph time, cracking that figure in 4.9sec.
