Alfa Romeo to launch 4C Spider celebrating original Duetto

Limited edition model will mark fifty years since the debut of one of Alfa's most famous models

Fifty years ago in March, Alfa Romeo launched one of its most iconic models – the Duetto Spider.

To celebrate, Alfa Romeo will launch a special edition version of its latest open-topped roadster, the 4C Spider 50th Anniversary Limited Edition.

The firm has only released a cryptic video of the car so far, with quick flashes of some of the 4C’s details overlaying footage of the original 1966 Spider.

From those brief clips, we can see that… err, not a lot seems to have changed. Though assuming Alfa Romeo hasn’t gone full-Duetto, installing a boat-tailed rump and wooden-trimmed dashboard, the 50th Anniversary’s changes are likely to include special badging, new seat trim and perhaps a unique colour scheme.

Full details on the limited-run model will be announced in the week beginning January 18. Until that point, you can read our full review of the Alfa Romeo 4C Spider here, and our review of the regular 4C here. The 4C also appeared in evo’s Car of the Year test in 2013.
