Avro's 720bhp Ford GT

Roush technologies helps create 220mph, £160k supercar

After the success of the Roush 600RE last year (evo 107), Surrey-based Ford GT specialist Avro Motor Cars has joined forces with Roush Technologies to develop this latest GT-based supercar, the Avro 720 Mirage Ford GT.

Power is boosted to a minimum of 720bhp at 6950rpm and torque rises to 627lb ft at 4800rpm thanks to the fitting of a larger Whipple supercharger and revised throttle bodies.

The car has been derestricted and boasts a top speed of 220mph so owners will be thankful that the braking system has also been upgraded, courtesy of AP Racing. The suspension has been tweaked too, with the ride height set some 25mm lower than standard, and the front and rear tracks are both 5mm wider than before.

Just ten cars will be built by Avro, using zero mile cars that have been sourced in the US by Avro MD Andy McGrath. The price of a fully converted car is dependent on final specification but expect to pay at least £160,000 for one. The orange paintwork is optional.
