BMW M3 v Audi RS4

It's here at last... We drive the new 414bhp V8 M3 and test it against its toughest rival, Audi's RS4

It’s a mark of the great strides that Audi has made with its RS4 that at least three UK-registered press cars made the 1500-mile drive down to Malaga to meet the new M3 for illicit but entirely predictable comparison tests.

With the possible exception of the new R8, the RS4 is the most complete, rewarding and entertaining Audi in the last two decades and has largely dispelled the stereotypical view of high-performance Audis being nicely screwed together but essentially numb and nose-heavy devices. It’s clear from the new M3’s more rounded abilities that BMW has paid the RS4 a great deal of attention, so how do the two compare?
