These are some of the most exciting new cars of the Frankfurt motor show. We look over more on video.

Honda Project 2&4

While we’re patiently waiting for Honda to release its much-anticipated NSX supercar into the world, the Japanese firm has tempted us with a different performance car at Frankfurt. Project 2&4 is a joint project between the car and motorcycle arms at Honda, uses an engine from Honda's MotoGP bike and sits the driver on a seat that appears to float mere inches above the ground. We meet its designer for our Frankfurt video here.

Hyundai N Performance

Like Bugatti, Hyundai has used Frankfurt to launch a virtual racer for the Gran Turismo videogame series. At the same time, the Vision Gran Turismo will be a figurehead for the maker’s new ‘N’ performance sub-brand. It isn’t clear what models this will spawn, but we’re sure to see indications at the show.

Infiniti Q30

Crossover or hatchback? In reality, the new Infiniti Q30 will be a bit of both. Set to be built at Nissan’s plant in the UK, near Sunderland, the Q30 targets cars such as Mercedes’ A-Class, BMW’s 1-Series and the Lexus CT 200h. At the same time, a slightly raised ride height should give the car appeal for buyers wooed by crossovers, without compromising handling too much.

Jaguar F-Pace

If the thought of a Bentley SUV offends then you probably won’t be much more enamoured with Jaguar’s attempt. It makes no commercial sense for Jaguar to ignore such a lucrative segment however, and the F-Pace at least displays suitably sleek styling. On the basis of the recent Jaguar XE and XF, it should also be impressive to drive.

Kia Sportage

Kia’s renaissance continues with the new Sportage. Styling echoes several details found on the Proceed GT hot hatchback – a car that went down very well on our Fast Fleet – and given its similarities to the newly-released Hyundai Tucson, you can expect the firm’s 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol to make an appearance among the sensible diesels.

Lamborghini Huracan LP 610-4 Spyder

Unveiled ahead of the show, the Huracan Spyder made its public debut at Frankfurt. The open-top is good for 201mph and is 40 per cent stiffer than the Gallardo Spyder. We look over it on video here.

Land Rover Discovery Sport HSE Dynamic LUX

Land Rover revealed its Discovery Sport HSE Dyamic LUX in Frankfurt - the most road-biased version of Land Rover's new off-roader. Yet the carmaker is claiming that off-road ability isn't hampered, partly thanks to the standard fitment of All Terrain Progress Control. Priced from £46,000, it's the most expensive Disco Sport on sale.

Lexus RC 200t

Joining those two Lexus will be another turbocharged model – the RC 200t. So far available only in RC F form, the IS-based coupe will now be more attainable, with a 241bhp turbocharged four, and still brisk, with a 7.5-second 0-62mph sprint. Hopefully, it’ll be lighter than the 1765kg RC F too.
