Extra strong mint

Previous hot Polos have failed to deliver on the promise of their specification, but now VW has rediscovered how to make exciting cars - Golfs GTI and R32, for example - there's fresh hope for the Polo GTI. Power rises from the previous GTI's 125bhp to 148bhp thanks to the use of VW's oft-seen 1.8-litre turbo four. This unit also boasts 125lb ft of torque at a helpful 1950rpm, which will aid the GTI's tractability.
