Ferrari: history and greatest cars of the evo years

We catalogue the 19 years worth of Ferraris produced since evo’s inception

The Ferrari journey started with its founder, Enzo, born in 1898, who harboured an insatiable appetite for racing. He drove for Alfa Romeo in his twenties before becoming synonymous with Alfa’s pre-war racing efforts as team manger of both Scuderia Ferrari and Alfa Corse, overseeing some of Alfa’s finest racing years including Nuvolari’s legendary win at the Nürburgring in 1935. Having parted company with Alfa Romeo in 1939 he set out to forge his own automotive legacy. During the second world war Enzo moved operations out of Modena and into Maranello, where the first Ferrari, the V12-engined 125 S, was conceived. In the 70 years since, Ferrari has produced some of the most evocative road cars of all time including the 250 GTO, F40 and LaFerrari.

evo’s 19-year affair with Ferrari has seen us emerge from the famous factory gates in Maranello at the helm of some soul-stirring machines; the first a delectable Ferrari F355 Berlinetta and the latest a bonkers 812 Superfast. Inbetween these bookending cars, 12 have had a crack at the ecoty throne, two taking the coveted prize and plenty more have featured though 243 issues of evo.
